Cake Room Setup for Birthday Parties

Cake Room or Party Room Layout
When setting up your cake rooms or party rooms, here’s a few things to keep in mind:

1. Keep the cake room layout simple.

When the party starts, this room will be crowded with kids and party guests. You’ll want your party attendants to be able to easily get around the room and get to every child at the table when serving food, cake or refilling the drinks. Make sure the setup allows for easy movement and try not to make your rooms too small. We’ve kept the kids’ tables in the center and additional seating for the parents and other guests by the wall.

2. Theme the cake rooms in gender and age neutral colors.

By keeping your cake rooms themed with colors that are not gender or age specific you’ll attract broader customer base. Notice the picture above, the cake room remains fun and colorful, but is not specific to either boys or girls. If the birthday party requests a themed party, there are plenty of products out there to use from plates, napkins, table clothes, etc – we allowed parents to bring in their own themed products, where we would  set it up for them or they could purchase them directly from us.high chairs for babies

3. Keep it low cost.

We’ve used the basic folding tables with heavy duty vinyl table cloths, which are easy to clean. For kids chairs we used school style chairs, while the remaining chairs for adults are your basic folding chairs. Don’t forget the high chairs – we kept two or three at our facility.

4. How to handle the birthday gifts.

Cart for Birthday GiftsWe used carts labeled with the birthday child’s name for birthday presents. The carts would sit out in the lobby where guests can easily place the gifts as they sign-in. Once the cake room is ready we would wheel the carts into the cake room. We gave the parents the option to open gifts at the facility, if time permits. For that purpose we’ve had the designated chair in the corner and special birthday thank you cards that the employee would fill out as the child opens the presents. At the end of the party all the gifts would be wheeled out to the parking lot and if needed the employee would help the parent load them into the car.

Can someone provide examples of their party room dimensions (width x length or square footage)? I am trying to size the party rooms based on 10, 15, 20 guest plus adults. Thank you in advance.
